Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz canned tomato sauce
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil elbow macaroni in a large pot of salted water until al dente (7-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onions until the meat is cooked through and onions are translucent (5-7 minutes).
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for 10 minutes to combine flavors.
  5. Fold in the cooked macaroni and cheddar cheese until well-coated.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with additional cheese if desired.
