Description

Chicken Paprikash is a comforting Hungarian dish that features tender chicken simmered in a rich, paprika-infused sauce. Perfect for cozy family dinners, this recipe combines flavorful ingredients to create an unforgettable meal that warms the soul.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by chopping the onion and mincing the garlic.
  2. Heat olive oil or butter in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes), then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add chicken thighs to the pot, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, and brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, cover, and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes until chicken is tender.
  5. Remove chicken; whisk flour into drippings until smooth. Stir in sour cream off heat until creamy, then return chicken to the pot.
  6. Serve hot over egg noodles or dumplings with a garnish of fresh parsley if desired.
